Job Opening: Part-Time Contract Consultant - CIE Program

Innovate Cochrane is a non-profit community organization based in Cochrane, Alberta, dedicated to fostering community growth and connectedness through leadership and entrepreneurial development. We achieve this through various events, programs, and strategic partnerships, empowering entrepreneurs and organizational leaders across all sectors to enhance their toolkit for growth and change.

Our flagship initiative, the Community Innovator’s Ecosystem (CIE) Program, is delivered in partnership with Unbounded Thinking. This comprehensive 8-month program offers participants assessments of capacity for change and growth, strategic plan development opportunities, 1-on-1 coaching, regular roundtable sessions with fellow community leaders, and 6 in-depth learning modules. Graduates of the program include leaders and leadership teams from Cochrane and area nonprofits, municipal government, and commercial enterprises.

Innovate Cochrane is seeking to engage up to two (2) part-time contract consultants to contribute to the ongoing development, design, and implementation of the CIE program.

Role Summary

The Contract Consultant(s) will play a pivotal role in expanding the reach and enhancing the impact of the CIE Program. This involves a blend of business development, community engagement, program design based on continuous improvement, and direct program delivery. The consultant will work closely with the leadership and facilitation team and engage directly with participating organizations.

Key Responsibilities

● Business Development & Community Engagement: Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the CIE program’s participation and foster stronger connections within the Cochrane community.

● Program Design & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the iterative design and refinement of the CIE program, incorporating feedback and best practices to ensure its ongoing relevance and effectiveness.

● Team Collaboration: Engage regularly (virtually, weekly) with the CIE Program leadership and facilitation team to ensure seamless program execution and strategic alignment.

● Program Delivery: Facilitate and deliver 6 in-person program sessions in Cochrane, guiding participants through learning modules and strategic planning activities.

● Organizational Support: Work directly with participating organizations to support their engagement with assessments & surveys, and the development of their strategic plans.

Time Commitment & Compensation

● Duration: Approximately 120 hours over an 8-month period, commencing August 2025.

○ Note: While program delivery spans 8 months, the planning and management cycle is year-round.

● Future Opportunities: This contract may lead to additional consulting opportunities within Innovate Cochrane.

● Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for individuals who embody the following:

● Local Roots: A resident of Cochrane, Alberta, with established and demonstrable connections within the community through professional, personal, and/or volunteer activities.

● Facilitation Expertise: Proven experience in facilitating strategic and operational planning events or programs. Experience with Cochrane and area based organizations is an asset.

● Sector Knowledge: Knowledgeable about the unique challenges and opportunities faced by small and medium-sized organizations regarding growth and leadership development.

● Educational Background: A graduate of a degree or diploma program in business, entrepreneurship, leadership, change management, or a similar relevant field.
